Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering

Civil and Environmental Engineering is the application of engineering principals to the improvement of the human environment. The majors prepare students to design and supervise the construction of buildings, dams, roads, harbors, airports, tunnels, and bridges. It also provides training in the planning and construction of the complex systems that supply clean water to cities, remove sewage, control floads, and perform other functions wich ensure continued health and safety. The Department offers Bachelors degrees in Civil Engineering, Environmental Engineering, and soon, in Construction Engineering and Managment. We also offer Masters Degrees in Civil and Environmental Engineering as well as a Ph.D. in Environmental Engineering jointly with the University of California at San Diego.

The Civil Engineering Program at San Diego State University is accredited by the Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology (ABET). The Department sponsors active (and award winning) student chapters of ASCE, Chi Epsilon, and the AGC
