Average starting salary offers for graduates of bachelor’s degree programs in engineering, according to a July 2009 survey by the National Association of College & Employers was $59,279 1
The U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics reports that engineers earn some of the highest average entry salaries among those holding bachelor's degrees. In comparison, college graduates in business administration will earn an average of $43,823, those with journalism degrees will average $32,250 annually to start, and graduates with a psychology degree will earn $30,877 in their first year. 2
Not only do engineering majors earn the most, but the field is expected to grow at a fast rate with 178,300 jobs added between 2008 and 2018, according to the Bureau of Labor Statistics in 2008. 3
