Partnership - San Diego Skyline

San Diego State is ideally located in the middle of a region renowned worldwide as a hotbed of technology and innovation. SDSU’s proximity to industry headliners in wireless communications, biotechnology, unmanned aerospace vehicles, software and hardware development offers amazing opportunities for synergy and partnership.

We work hard to meet the needs of our corporate partners, providing technical solutions, workforce preparation and degree programs customized to meet industry needs. And it shows. At San Diego-based wireless giant, QUALCOMM, for example, a full 60 percent of the engineers are SDSU alumni!

In return, our students enjoy a broad range of internships and career placement opportunities, plus technical seminars and assistance with research and design projects. Many of our faculty collaborate with industry to advance common research goals, often leading to commercial applications.

We especially appreciate:

  • the generous corporate funding that supports our top research priorities and helps fund our outreach programs to K-12 students.
  • the industry leaders who share their knowledge and experience with our students as classroom lecturers and senior project mentors. (If you’re a mid-career Ph.D. who’d like to join them, please contact us.)
  • the many industry professionals who volunteer their time and expertise as members of our Dean’s Advisory Board and departmental advisory boards.
