NorwayThe Norwegian University of Science and Technology, NTNU, is a centre for technological education and research in Norway, with a solid foundation in the natural sciences. This tradition is interwoven with broadly based expertise in the classical university disciplines of the humanities, medicine and the social sciences. At the same time, NTNU offers the widest range of education in art subjects; music, the visual arts and architecture, of all the universities in Norway. The University is one of the largest in Norway with about 20,000 students and a staff of 3,500.

Language of Instruction:
Norwegian and English. NTNU offers a wide variety of courses taught in English.

Course Offerings:
Through the Faculty of Engineering Science and Technology, NTNU offers courses in: Civil and Transport Engineering, Structural Engineering, Energy and Process Engineering, Marine Technology, Hydraulic and Environmental Engineering, Geology and Mineral Resources, Petroleum Engineering and Applied Geophysics, Engineering Design and Materials, Production and Quality Engineering, and Product Design. In the Faculty of Information Technology, Mathematics and Electrical Engineering, they offer courses in: Computer and Information Science, Mathematical Science, Electrical Power Engineering, Engineering Cybernetics, Telematics, Electronics and Telecommunications.

International Masters Programmes in Engineering and Architecture at NTNU include: Coastal and Marine Civil Engineering, Electric Power Engineering, Geotechnics and Geohazards, Hydropower Development, Industrial Development, Information Systems, Light Metals Production, Medical Technology, Marine Technology, Petroleum Engineering/Petroleum Geosciences, Reliability, Availability, Maintainability and Safety (RAMS), and Urban Ecological Planning. Academic Notes:
Cooperation with SINTEF (The Foundation for Scientific and Industrial Research at the Norwegian Institute of Technology), one of the largest independent research institutes in northern Europe, allows for common research and use of staff, equipment and resources. Many of the special purpose laboratories are operated jointly.

Students are housed in the student village and there is no meal plan. Rooms are in suites in which 3-4 students have their own room and share a common kitchen and bath. Prices range from approximately 1900-2500 NOK ($270-$360 at the exchange rate of 7 NOK/USD). Electricity is included. NTNU received the highest score in a Dutch 2002/03 International Students Housing Survey. Housing for couples is available, but very difficult to secure due to the high demand.
