Visiting composer Michael Daugherty's "On the Air" will premeire as part of Music and Dance 75th anniversary celebration.
The SDSU Wind Symphony will perform with Michael Daugherty March 19.
San Diego State University's School of Music and Dance continues the celebration of its 75th Anniversary with the world premiere of visiting composer Michael Daugherty’s “On the Air" at 7 p.m. on Monday, March 19 in the Don Powell Theatre.
"On the Air" features
The School of Music & Dance commissioned "On the Air," to be performed by the SDSU Wind Symphony, directed by Shannon Kitelinger, along with visiting artists Ryan Dilisi, principal timpanist in the San Diego Symphony, and Robert Plimpton, San Diego Civic Organist Emeritus.
The program will also include the San Diego premiere of Daugherty’s “The Gospel According to Sister Aimee,” and ”Raise The Roof,” along with Eric Witacre’s “Cloudburst,” and Frank Ticheli’s “Angels in the Architecture.”
About Michael Daugherty
Grammy-award-winning composer Michael Daugherty has been composer-in-residence with the Pacific Symphony, the Louisville Symphony Orchestra, the Detroit Symphony Orchestra, the Colorado Symphony Orchestra, the Cabrillo Festival of Contemporary Music, and the Henry Mancini Summer Institute.
His music has entered the orchestral, band and chamber music repertory, and has made him one of the 10 most performed living American composers.
