Aztecs for Office

Get local election results for SDSU alumni, faculty and others with Aztec affiliations.

It’s election season, and SDSU alumni, faculty and staff are taking the polls by storm.

From incumbents to everyday citizens, members of the SDSU community appeared on ballots at the county, district and state level.

The following people finished in the top two and qualified for a run-off election Nov.  6.

California State Legislature

  • Assembly District 50 - Assembly member Betsy Butler, ‘85 (incumbent)
  • Assembly District 71 - Assembly member Brian Jones, ‘92 (first-term incumbent)
  • Assembly District 79 - Shirley Weber, Department of Africana Studies chair
  • Senate District 33 - Assembly member Ricardo Lara, ‘99
  • Senate District 39 - Assembly member Marty Block, former professor and director at SDSU.

US Congress

  • District 50 -Duncan Hunter, ‘01 (incumbent)
  • District 53 - Nick Popaditch, ‘11

City of San Diego

  • Mayor Bob Filner, former history professor

County of San Diego

  • District 3 - Steve Danon, ‘90

Superior Court

  • Seat 25 - Jim Miller, ‘92

San Diego Community College Board

  • District B - Bernie Rhinerson, ‘74

City of Chula Vista

  • District 4 - Mary Salas, ‘89

The following listed have received enough votes to secure the position and will not face a run-off election in November.

County of San Diego

  • District 1 - Greg Cox, ‘79 (incumbent)
  • District 2 - Dianne Jacob, ‘61 (incumbent)

California State Legislature

  • Assembly District 80 - Assembly member Ben Hueso (incumbent)
