Sales Appreciation Day

A $150,000 gift is a catalyst for a new specialization within the College of Business Administration.

The College of Business Administration has initiated the academic approval process to launch a professional selling and sales management specialization.

The college will kick off the initiative with a Sales Appreciation Day celebration on May 8 from noon to 2 p.m. The event will feature a job fair with more than 25 corporate recruiters.

This initiative is funded through a seed gift of $150,000 from Steven and Ellen Osinski and the Osinski Family Trust. Steven Osinski, the founder and CEO of 3 Hour Learning LLP is a College of Business Administration board member and teaches professional sales and marketing at SDSU.

“There is an increased demand for highly qualified sales professionals and leaders due to the globalization of the economy and the aging of our workforce,” said Michael R. Cunningham, dean of the College of Business Administration at SDSU.

“The contemporary sales professional requires more skills and competencies than in the past. Data analytics, technical skills and customer relationship management tools are becoming an increasing critical element in building a successful sales career.”

Sales Appreciation Day at SDSU

May 8 has been proclaimed Sales Appreciation Day by San Diego Mayor Jerry Sanders. The celebration at SDSU will be held in front of Hepner Hall starting at noon and the Osinskis will present the gift to the college at that time. Among the 25-plus companies looking to hire SDSU students during the event will be ADP, 3M, New York Life, Pepsico and AT&T.
