Fatih Büyüksönmez, Ph.D., P.E.

Assisstant Professor

Thank you for visiting my homepage.  My research activities primarily focus on the fate and degradation of xenobiotic and natural organic compounds through biological and chemical processes, composting process, and hazardous and industrial waste management.

Recently, I have established a Composting Laboratory located in EL 111 & 109.  Currently, funded by the California Integrated Waste Management Board, we are investigating for mitigation strategies for the problems that the composting industry is facing today.

Jason Evans, who is a graduate student working on one of my projects has received a scholarship from the American Society of Mechanical Engineering to continue his work to investigate best management practices to reduce VOC emissions from yard waste composting.
