College of Engineering Student Success
The College of Engineering has 30 student-led professional societies and organizations that allow students the opportunity to be engaged in the campus community, enhance their leadership and networking skills, and obtain valuable experience applying engineering principles in hands-on engineering project competitions. Gifts to the student success fund support the most emergent needs of our students.
Aerospace Engineering Department
The Department of Aerospace Engineering excels in teaching and research in traditional and modern Aerospace Engineering areas of study including: aerodynamics, jet and rocket propulsion, aeroelasticity, structural design and optimization, guidance and control, and space flight mechanics. Gifts to the Aerospace Engineering Department are utilized at the discretion of the Dean and Department Chair.
Civil, Construction & Environmental Engineering Department
The three majors offered by the Civil, Construction & Environmental Engineering Department directly affect the well being, health and safety of all citizens as students learn to design and supervise the construction of buildings, dams, transportation systems, and water and wastewater facilities. Gifts to the Civil, Construction & Environmental Engineering Department are utilized at the discretion of the Dean and Department Chair.
Electrical & Computer Engineering Department
The Electrical & Computer Engineering Department teaches students the latest technologies in communications, digital signal processing, opto-electronics, fiber optics, power electronics, power systems, bioelectronics, digital circuits, VSLI design, controls, multimedia, and computer networks. Gifts to the Electrical & Computer Engineering Department are utilized at the discretion of the Dean and Department Chair.
Mechanical Engineering Department
The Mechanical Engineering Department provides an education that seamlessly combines engineering theory, analysis and practice to prepare our graduates to address contemporary challenges in automation and control, bioengineering, energy and sustainability, novel materials, powder technology, mechanics of materials, robotics, and design and manufacturing. Gifts to the Mechanical Engineering Department are utilized at the discretion of the Dean and Department Chair.
AGC Construction Management Endowed Chair
The J.R. Filanc Construction Engineering & Management Program has been offering undergraduate and graduate degrees in Construction Engineering since 2008. Starting in Fall 2021, the program will expand to offer Construction Management degrees. Recruiting and maintaining high level faculty is a priority in building a successful program. The AGC Construction Management Endowed Chair Fund provides support for a faculty chair position in Construction Management.
Aztec Baja Racing
Aztec Baja Racing is the Baja SAE (Society of Automotive Engineers) team at SDSU. Baja SAE is an international collegiate competition that challenges students to design, build, and race a 10hp off road buggy each year. Gifts to this organization enable the Aztec Baja Racing Team to compete in three US competitions during the spring semester that include a sales presentation, a design presentation, an acceleration trial, an obstacle trial, and a 4 hour endurance race.

Bruce Urquhart & Jacqueline Clayton Endowed Scholarship
The Bruce Urquhart & Jacqueline Clayton Endowed Scholarship is utilized to support student veterans pursuing degrees in the College of Engineering. The endowment was established in May 2014 by Mr. Bruce Urquhart, SDSU alumnus and College of Engineering Faculty member, and Ms. Jacqueline Clayton. Bruce and Jacqueline both have backgrounds in transportation engineering, and Bruce has been a part-time faculty member at SDSU since 1992. Bruce and Jacqueline have admiration for student veterans and their excellent leadership capabilities, and as a scholarship recipient herself during her time in college, Jacqueline feels it is important to support today’s students.
Carol Forrest, P.E. Memorial Watershed Management Endowment
The Carol Forrest, P.E. Memorial Watershed Management Endowment was established in 2007 in memory of Carol Forrest, a Principal Engineer and SDSU alumnus, who made an extraordinary contribution to the watershed management field during her 28 years of professional experience. This endowed fund provides scholarship support to students studying water resources related to storm water and urban runoff.

Dean Monte Mehrabadi Memorial Fund
The Dean Monte Mehrabadi Memorial Fund was established in 2018 in memory of Morteza "Monte" Mehrabadi, Ph.D. Dr. Mehrabadi served as Professor and Department Chair of Mechanical Engineering, and Dean of the College of Engineering from 2014-2018. He was a leader of unprecedented growth in the College, dedicated to student success, and was kind and compassionate to all. This fund provides scholarship support to students in the College of Engineering in Dr. Mehrabadi's name.

J.R. Filanc Construction Engineering & Management (CEM) Program
The J.R. Filanc Construction Engineering & Management (CEM) Program in the College of Engineering is home to California's only program to offer Construction Engineering and Construction Management majors. The program was named by the Filanc family in 2006, and maintains strong connections with local industry and alumni who provide professional and philanthropic support to students and faculty.

SDSU MESA Program
For more than 30 years, the Mathematics, Engineering, Science Achievement (MESA) Program has supported underserved students to become the engineers and physical science professionals needed by the Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) industry to compete in today’s global marketplace. The SDSU MESA program provides academic support, “out of classroom” experiences and industry and alumni engagement, which help students succeed academically and develop professionally to achieve career goals. Donors may designate a gift to SDSU MESA exclusively for scholarships, or choose to make an unrestricted gift to SDSU MESA, which enables the program to respond wherever the need is greatest.

The SDSU Society of Asian Scientists and Engineers (SASE) gives students networking opportunities and academic support while providing a sense of community by focusing on Asian representation in professional fields. May is APIDA History month and SASE is a key resource and a safe space for Asian American students on campus. Gifts to SASE help to support the academic and networking opportunities that the Society provides.
