Thomas Johnston Honored as Favorite Faculty
Mechanical Engineering’s Tom Johnston recently was selected one of 25 Favorite Faculty on campus by the Residential Education Office for the second year in a row. This award is special because the election is made by the students themselves.
Each year the Residential Education Office asks the students living in the residence halls to nominate their favorite faculty member at SDSU. As a result, they collect hundreds of nominations. Faculty members with the highest number of votes are invited to a special Favorite Faculty Award Dinner at the end of the academic year.
This year 25 faculty members were recognized, including our own Tom Johnston, at the Favorite Faculty Award Dinner on April 24th. Mr. Johnston taught in Mechanical Engineering as a full-time lecturer for 14 years. He works with and mentors students on Solid Modeling and Computer Aided Design. According to Dr. Monte Mehrabadi, Chair of Mechanical Engineering, “Students consistently rank him among the best instructors in the College, saying that he is always approachable and available.”
