Senior Design Day

Senior Design Day

Students with project

The College of Engineering is proud of the many teams, composed of students and student groups, who presented their innovative design projects at the 2012 Senior Design Day. The event took place on May 4th at the Parma Payne Goodall Alumni Center and was open to the public with invitations sent to local companies, alumni, and others.

Thirty-six teams from Civil, Construction & Environmental Engineering, Electrical and Computer Engineering, and Mechanical Engineering, represented the capstone Senior Design Classes. Design groups Build & Fly and the Rocket Project represented Aerospace Engineering. The Civil Engineering group Engineers without Borders also displayed a project as well as graduate student teams from Electrical & Computer Engineering and Environmental Engineering.

Companies like CUBIC, SDG&E, General Atomics, and the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation sponsored these projects to provide students with experience in solving real world problems. Senior design projects are crucial in giving students the hands-on experience needed to successfully compete in today’s job market.
