Design Day a Successful Virtual Event for Graduating Engineering Seniors

Gallery of Design Day 2020 projects

Graduating engineering seniors presented their innovative projects at the Virtual Engineering Design Day, attended by 2,000+ people from around the country and abroad.

The annual Engineering Design Day event takes place during the spring semester, in the first week of May.  This is the largest College of Engineering event which showcases the exciting and innovative design projects that our undergraduate Engineering students create during the academic year.  Each of our Senior Design classes in Aerospace Engineering, Civil, Construction & Environmental Engineering, Electrical & Computer Engineering, and Mechanical Engineering participate with over 85+ projects on interactive display each year.

The projects provide students with real-world experience in design constraints, budgets, reviews, and deadlines. Through these projects, students learn to apply and develop their critical thinking skills, recognize human and societal needs, and design novel, sustainable engineering solutions.

For the first time in the history of our event, we held our 2020 Engineering Design Day in a virtual format via Zoom on May 6, 2020.  The event was attended by 2,000+ people from around the country and abroad.

If you were unable to attend the virtual event, please visit each of our Department Engineering Design Day websites for a listing of the student projects that participated, along with a project picture and description, project poster and a YouTube video link to students’ project presentations:

Our 2020 Design Day Booklet provides a picture and description of all projects that participated in the 2020 event.
