Alumni Carlos and Gail Gonzalez Endow Scholarship for MESA Program
On behalf of the College of Engineering, we are pleased to share that Carlos, ’97 BS Civil Engineering and ’00 MS Civil Engineering and Gail Gonzalez, ’96 BA Liberal Studies and ’97 Teaching Certificate have made a gift to establish the Hanlon/Garcia MESA Endowed Scholarship for Engineering.
When asked why they’ve chosen to endow a scholarship, they shared the following with us: “We love San Diego State. It gave us the foundation for our personal and professional development and we have enjoyed the privilege of remaining deeply embedded in the Aztec community. We are now humbled by the
opportunity to give back to the next generation of students, in partnership with MESA, which played such a critical role supporting during our time on campus; and, to be able to honor our parents with this endowed scholarship is just a dream come true.”
They have established the endowment to honor Raymond Hanlon (Gail's father) and Maria de la Luz Garcia (Carlos’s mom).
If you happen to see Carlos or Gail at a community event, campus happening or industry function, please feel free to express appreciation on behalf of the College.
