Representation of underrepresented groups has improved over the past decade, but remains limited.

Carlos, ’97 BS Civil Engineering and ’00 MS Civil Engineering and Gail Gonzalez, ’96 BA Liberal Studies and ’97 Teaching Certificate have made a gift to establish the Hanlon/Garcia MESA Endowed Scholarship for Engineering.

Congratulations to Julia Hong on her CSU Howard C. Christiansen Endowed Scholarship! Julia Hong is a mechanical engineering student participating in Dr. Satchi Venkataraman's Aerospace Composite Structural Mechanics Laboratory through the SDSU MESA Summer Undergraduate Research Academy.

We congratulate student recipients and thank our donors and industry representatives at the Fall 2022 MESA Scholarship Reception!

Aerospace and mechanical engineering students in Dr. Venkataraman's aerospace engineering lab get the chance to get up close and personal with new aircraft composite materials in research projects having to do with building stronger parts.

Donald Mensah (BSAE '19) participated in SDSU's MESA Program, DBF (Design Build Fly), and the National Society of Black Engineers while an undergraduate student. Now working at Lockheed Martin, he gives back to the programs that gave him so much by donating to the MESA Engineering Fund.

Alumni Highlight: This Spring, Daisy Galeana ('98, '22) earned a joint doctoral degree in Mechanical Engineering from San Diego State University and UC San Diego.
