The College of Engineering Student Council (CESC) hosted a club fair to welcome old and new members of their student organizations. CESC is holding events all week, with the club fair being the first.

Natalie Mladenov, Ph.D. San Diego State University, is recognized for her commitment to engaging student success in the classroom, field and laboratory setting. Her students tackle real-world problems and new research collaborations along the US-Mexico border that have led many to become involved in convergent research.

Aerospace Engineering Professor Gustaaf Jacobs recently earned a $750,000 award from the Department of Energy to increase the performance and reliability of hydrogen power and to advance zero-emissions technology.

In a collaboration with Lawrence National Laboratory scientists, Electrical and Computer Engineering professor Christopher Paolini and his student team worked with codes that simulate microscale flows in complex porous media geometries.

Mechanical Engineering Alumna Corina Lamp was awarded the Daniel P. Goodrich Award for her service to San Diego State and its student body. Corina works as an Operations Leadership Development Program Participant at Thermo Fisher Scientific.

Magic Leap CEO Peggy Johnson (BSEE '85) joined President Adela de la Torre on campus for the President's Lecture Series.

Dr. Alves, director of the J.R. Filanc Construction Engineering and Management Program, recently given a 2021 Distinguished Faculty Award from the university.

Dr. Junfei Xie from the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering and Dr. Yan Wan from University of Texas at Arlington (UTA) co-organized the student design competition on networked computing on the edge at 2021 CPS-IoT week.

SDSU will award seven honorary degrees this year, recognizing individuals who have served the university, the San Diego community and the nation. Engineering Alumni, Massi Joseph E. Kiani and Stephen P. Doyle, will both be receiving a Doctor of Science honorary degree.
