On March 15-17, 2019 members of American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME) went to E-Fest West at the Fairplex in Pomona to compete in the Student Design Competition and the Human-Powered Vehicle Challenge.

On March 14, 2019, the SDSU College of Engineering STEM Outreach Program, in partnership with Strategic Energy Innovations and sponsored by SDG&E, hosted the 2019 Sustainable Home Green Building & Energy Design Competition.

The SDSU College of Engineering STEM Outreach Program, in partnership with the Biocom Institute's San Diego Festival of Science and Engineering, was proud to host their first annual Mission: STEM Possible on March 4, 2019.

Galactic Unite through the efforts of Virgin Galactic Future Astronaut Scott Borden has awarded a grant to the SDSU Aerospace Engineering Dept. to support a scholarship program. The Department has awarded twelve $1,600 scholarships for the 2018-19AY.

Ms. Sarah Gomez, pursuing a B.S. in Mechanical Engineering, has been selected as a Brooke Owens Fellow in the Class of 2019, and will be interning at The Spaceship Company.

The SDSU Society of Women Engineers (SWE) collaborated with the SDSU Mechatronics team to host a workshop during the Fall 2018 semester in which sixteen Junior Girl Scouts had the opportunity to earn their badges in Mechanical Engineering and Robotics.

In January 2019, Ahmed Atallah, a Ph. D. Aerospace Engineering student in the Joint Doctoral Program, won the John V. Breakwell Student Travel Award from the American Astronautical Society (AAS) Space Flight Mechanics Committee.

Ms. Michelle Davis Vargas, Quality Engineer Manager at Illumina Inc., mentored three SDSU MESA/College of Engineering female students during the Fall 2018 semester.

Dr. Luciano Demasi, Professor in the SDSU Aerospace Engineering Department, was formally honored and inducted as an Associate Fellow of the American Institute of Aeronautics and Astronautics (AIAA) on January 7, 2019.

Novel repeater units and a clever layout of ferrite plates helps this new wireless power transfer system simultaneously deliver power to 10 devices. This new design was developed by Dr. Chris Mi, Professor & Chair, Electrical & Computer Engineering Dept. and his colleagues.
