Engineering in the News 2020

MESA asked and our alumni responded overwhelmingly! More than 20 SDSU MESA Alumni participated in MESA's Virtual Alumni Chat series for Fall 2020.

A native of Victorville, CA, George Parker came to San Diego State College to study Engineering. He graduated in January of 1962 with a concentration in Mechanical Engineering. That degree set him on a very rewarding career path.

SDSU’s NIH-funded Initiative for Maximizing Student Development (IMSD) and Maximizing Access to Research Careers (MARC) Programs jointly hosted a series of professional development and networking opportunities during Fall 2020, which leveraged the knowledge and experiences of SDSU alumni across a variety of disciplines.

SDSU College of Engineering alumna, Peggy Johnson, BSEE 1985, has been named CEO of Magic Leap. Magic Leap is a spatial computing company building the next computing platform.

For Alex Mora his introduction to MESA came when he attended a workshop put on by the MESA program during his second year at San Diego State University.

The Hickeys have been providing philanthropic support to SDSU for over 30 years, and most recently named a student study area in the new Engineering and Interdisciplinary Sciences Complex.

Carlos Gonzalez currently serves as the Regional Executive Officer & Sr. Vice President, Western Region South, for Clark Construction. Originally from Mexico City, Carlos' first memory of SDSU was walking across the footbridge on College Avenue and thinking how beautiful the campus was. This first impression led Carlos to enroll at SDSU in Fall 1994.

Cory Erlenbach, third year Civil Engineering major and Lauren Case-McFate, Environmental Engineering major, are two of three SDSU students receiving $5,000 scholarships from SDSU Alumni for the 2019-20 Academic Year.
