On Friday, September 25, 2020, the SDSU Women in Engineering (WE) Program and the College of Engineering Femineer® Program hosted their first STEM Talk of the Fall semester and third of the series to 21 attendees, featuring TRC Companies to a combination of high school and undergraduate students.

Our 12 SDSU Women in Engineering full-time faculty and 2 staff came together to collaboratively submit a proposal, titled “WE (Women in Engineering) Inspire: Reimagining Engineering Diversity (WIRED)” for the Equality Can't Wait Challenge, to address glaring gender disparities that remain in engineering fields.

SDSU College of Engineering alumna, Peggy Johnson, BSEE 1985, has been named CEO of Magic Leap. Magic Leap is a spatial computing company building the next computing platform.

Researchers at San Diego State University and CSU San Marcos have been awarded funding that will help the state of California manage microplastics, the small pieces of plastic found ubiquitously in the environment that are of increasing concern due to their potential impacts on wildlife and human health.

On Wednesday, September 9, 2020, the SDSU Women in Engineering Program and the College of Engineering Femineer® Program hosted the first WE Chat of the Fall semester, to more than 20 participants, featuring Dr. Tara Welborne.

The SDSU College of Engineering is pleased to announce that Peggy (BSEE 1985) and Eric Johnson (MSEE 1986) have made a $3,100,000 gift to name and endow the fred harris Chair in Digital Signal Processing (DSP).

These fellowships supplement external funding to support 80 highly accomplished research scholars.

The SDSU Women in Engineering & Femineer Programs had the privilege to host their second Summer STEM Talk Series with Industry webinar featuring Otter Products on August 18, 2020.

For Alex Mora his introduction to MESA came when he attended a workshop put on by the MESA program during his second year at San Diego State University.

The SDSU Women in Engineering (WE) & College of Engineering Femineer® Program, in partnership with Qualcomm, hosted their first Summer STEM Talk Day on July 21st, 2020. Geared towards high school Femineer® students and SDSU WE postsecondary students, the event heavily touched upon the company’s internship and career opportunities.

SDSU’s Maricruz Carrillo, who previously earned a major NSF award, is among the 2020-21 cohort of a program to prepare students for an academic career.

The Hickeys have been providing philanthropic support to SDSU for over 30 years, and most recently named a student study area in the new Engineering and Interdisciplinary Sciences Complex.

Dean Olevsky, a native of Ukraine, has made a mark after two years as Dean of one of SDSU’s most innovative colleges, setting the bar high for its Engineering faculty and students.
