Kevin Archangel '18 was part of Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity Inc, (SAAB) Student African American Brotherhood, NSBE (National Society of Black Engineers) while at SDSU. He is now recognized in HP's External Sustainability Report for being actively engaged in the HP Racial Equality and Social Justice Task Force and the Black Employee Impact Network.

Dr. Junfei Xie from the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering at San Diego State University used funding from her NSF CAREER project on Networked Airborne Computing to host the 2nd CPS-IoT Week Student Design Competition on Networked Computing on the Edge.

Team HADES is representing San Diego State University at the NASA Robotic Mining Competition (RMC) Lunabotics 2022 by designing, building, and operating a lunar mining robot. This student competition has been facilitated through NASA’s Artemis Generation of student competitions and projects, while for Team HADES it was also their San Diego State University Senior Design Capstone project.

The Aztec Baja Racing Team finished their car in time for their first competition, which was May 12-15, 2022 at Tennessee Technological University in Cookeville, Tennessee.

Alumni Highlight: This Spring, Daisy Galeana ('98, '22) earned a joint doctoral degree in Mechanical Engineering from San Diego State University and UC San Diego.

After 37 years at SDSU and 54 years of teaching, SDSU engineering professor Allen Plotkin retires with an impressive legacy behind him.
